Abelia 'Twist of Lemon'
Bright, multi-color leaves are yellow with green centers when young and mature to ivory and green. Dainty clusters of pink buds open to pale pink-blushed flowers, summer to fall. A dense and bushy selection for large patio containers or massing as a foundation planting. Colorful evergreen foliage.
Prefers moist, enriched, well-drained, acidic soil. Shelter from harsh winter exposure in northern climates. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; supplement during hot, dry spells. Blooms on new wood, so prune as needed (e.g., remove stems lost to winter and, if desired, thin to the ground up to 1/3 of old stems) in late winter to early spring.
