Barberry Rosy Glow Japanese
Berberis thunbergii
This Barberry is perhaps the most beautiful and unique. A small densely-branched, deciduous shrub with an arching form and a different look for every season. Its deep rose-red foliage is mottled with white and green in spring, and has bright red berries in fall and winter. Beautiful when planted in masses.
Thrives in average, well-drained soil; avoid poorly drained, wet sites. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. Apply fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune young plants in late winter to promote dense new growth. Matures at 3 to 5 feet tall and wide.
