Cardinal Climber

Item 599

Ipomoea quamoclit. Annual.

Cardinal Climber is a close relation to the morning glory. Its vigorous vine can climb to 20′ and cover a fence or trellis with its delicate, finely divided leaves and bright spots of scarlet flowers. A good selection for dry areas.

Planting & Harvesting

Seed Depth: 1/2″ (13mm)

Spacing: 2″ (5cm)

Sprouts In: 5-10 days

Thinning: 8″ (20cm)

Soak seeds in water overnight to encourage germination. Plant in a sunny location with average soil after all danger of frost has passed. Keep soil evenly moist while plants are young. Cardinal climber is slow to grow in cool weather, but grows quickly when warm weather arrives.

Plants prefer poor soil and moderate water for best blossoms.
