Organic Beet Golden Heirloom
Item 4284
Beta vulgaris
Introduced in the 1820s, golden beets are tender and especially mild and sweet. They do not “bleed” like regular beets when sliced. Use pickled, cooked or grated raw as a garnish.
Planting & Harvesting
Seed Depth: 1/2″ (13mm)
Plant Space: 4″ (10cm)
Row Space: 18″ (46cm)
Sprouts In: 6-12 days
Start outdoors in loose, well-drained soil in early spring as soon as soil can be worked or up to six weeks before fall frost. Golden beets do not germinate as strongly as other beets, therefore, plant seeds thickly. Beets prefer a cool climate and can tolerate mild frost. Plant seed every few weeks for continuous harvest.
Keep soil evenly moist until they germinate. Beets have a hard time breaking through crusted soil.
