Hardy, deciduous summer-blooming shrub with spectacular purple flower spikes. It has an arching, spreading habit and typically grows 5 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide. Perfect for borders and beds. Deer tolerant.
Thrives in average, well-drained soil; avoid poorly drained, wet sites. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. Apply fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune young plants in late winter to promote dense new growth. Matures at 3 to 5 feet tall and wide.
