Lithops spp.
DESCRIPTION
Lithops, also known as live succulents, living stones, or stone faces, are highly unusual plants that can easily spark conversations. These fascinating succulent life-forms naturally blend in with the surrounding environment of non-living stones and coarse sand. Additionally, their unique appearance, which some liken to brains or bottoms, makes them stand out among other plants. Each lithops has its own distinct pattern on the top of its windowed leaves, making them truly one-of-a-kind. While in their natural habitat in South Africa, these plants form clusters and gradually spread to form large colonies that can reach up to 6 feet in diameter. However, in indoor environments, potted lithops make for excellent additions to small and brightly-lit spaces, adding a touch of quirky charm. These plants typically have a single body with a diameter of up to 1.5inches, split by a central cleft that creates a unique bilobed appearance (earning them comparisons to bottoms).
- Do not over water. A light misting of water with a spray bottle once or twice a week is adequate for most succulents.
