Sugar Buzz® Series (Bee Balm)
Monarda didyma
Butterflies and Hummingbirds love these. Lavender blue flowers are held by attractive purple bracts.
Strong stems lined with dark green, mildew-resistant leaves form a mid-sized clump that is perfect for the middle of the border. Try cutting a few blossoms for fresh bouquets. Well-suited to the middle of the flower border. But even out of bloom, this Monarda is attractive and useful. The fragrant foliage can be used in teas; the plant gets its common name of Bee Balm because the leaves used to be put onto bee stings to relieve the pain! Looks nice when planted with 'Munstead,' Lavender, 'Blue Hill', Salvia, or Leucanthemum, 'Shasta Daisy.'
