Spirea 'Van Houttei' Renaissance
Selected for increased resistance to foliar diseases, this graceful shrub features a massive display of pure white flowers and colorful orange-red fall color. Very attractive as a specimen plant or in mass plantings. Deciduous.
Prized for its stunning spring floral display and ease of care and longevity, heralding the arrival of spring, Van Houtte is a Bridal Wreath Spirea that forms a fountain-like large mound of gracefully arching branches that become literally smothered in clusters of pretty white flowers with yellow eyes. Following the bloom are the delicate blue-green leaves that remain attractive throughout the season to contrast beautifully with shrubs that have darker foliage. Van Houtte can grow to 8 feet tall and 10 or more feet wide over time so leave it plenty of space to grow. When established, this easy-to-grow beauty is drought tolerant and requires little if any maintenance.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a rounded mound of gracefully arching branches to about 8 feet tall and 10 or more feet wide, Van Houtte Spirea is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as a natural hedge in sunny landscape and flowering shrub borders. It also makes a nice accent in home foundation plantings against tall windowless walls. A fine addition to white theme gardens, cottage gardens, and sunny woodland borders.
